Congratulations Pat and Molly!

Yesterday we drove to Jonesville, NC for Pat and Molly's wedding. (Pat was my graduate assistant last year.) The wedding was at Laurel Gray Winery, about 2 hours from Raleigh. The weather was perfect except the grass was a little wet. My toes were muddy by the end of the night. We had a great time. I learned that I want to have a very small only close family wedding. Maybe a destination wedding :)

Me, mom, and Kyle's mom at the Battery

For Mother's Day weekend we went to Charleston, SC and met my parents, kyle's parents, and kyle's sister and boyfriend.  It was in the 90's, hot, and humid all weekend but it was fun to be with family.  Here are some fun pics.

Happy Mother's Day.

UNCW Challenge Course

Last weekend I went to the Challenge Course at UNCW with some students and other faculty at NC State. We are in the process of building a challenge course at NC State and wanted to get some practice on a course before ours opens. Everyone that went is interested in becoming a course facilitator.
The course was fun, but I was a little nervous at first. The course is 40 feet off the ground and you have to climb a 50 foot cargo net to get to the high ropes section. After I climbed the net I had to stand on the platform for about five minutes to relax and get enough courage to do some of the challenges on the course. Most challenge courses are "challenge by choice" so you do anything that you want and you aren't forced to do anything. At the end of the day I felt like I had accomplished something. My parents got there just in time to see me go down the zip line.
Our challenge course should open in just a few weeks!

Nala as Marley

We have a campus cinema at NC State that shows fairly new movies to students. This weekend Marley and Me is coming to campus. If you haven't seen the movie you should definitely check it out. But I do suggest you bring a box of tissues.

Well if you have ever met Nala she looks a lot like Marley, so a co-worker on campus asked if I would be interested in having Nala star in a film. A student was filming a short clip to introduce the Marley and Me movie to campus. Of course I said yes....Nala a movie star :) So a few Friday's ago Kyle and I brought Nala to campus and shot some film of her.

The idea of the film is that she is running through campus trying to get to the campus cinema to watch Marley and Me. So the entire video is shot on NC State's campus. Check it out: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/video/video.php?v=633217365279&ref=mf

No animals were hurt during the production of this film, but were given lots of treats and even a hotdog!

Nala Pages

I have tons of pictures of Nala that I haven't made into pages. Last weekend while watching basketball I made these two. Hopefully I will have more to come next month.

This was Nala's Easter picture from 2008. We had to play fetch for about an hour before she would calm down enough to wear the flower hat.

Every Saturday and Sunday morning we take Nala to Lake Raleigh and hike. She can run around in the woods without her leash, so it helps tire her out for the day. There is a middle school near the lake so each day Nala finds a new ball/toy to play with. Lately she has been carrying the balls all the way around the lake and demanding to play fetch while we are walking. She is getting a little fetch crazy!

Wacky Weather

The past few days in Raleigh has been weather crazy.  On Saturday and Sunday it was cold and rained all day both days.  Then on Sunday night/Monday morning (March 1) it snowed 4 inches. We never get snow, so why are we getting it at the beginning of March?  So today is a high of 36 and tonight we may set a record low, in the teens!  I am so ready for spring.  But there is good news in the forecast, it is supposed to be in the 70's this weekend.  40 degree warm up in a few days, I'll take it.  I have some snow pics that I'll post later.
