December Contest Winner!

It has been raining here all day and of course there is nothing to do in the rain.  I logged on to sugardumplin.com and found out that I won the December monthly quote contest!  I submitted the picture of Nala, titled More Than A Princess.  I posted the page on December 17, so you can see it if you scroll down.
I am so excited!  I won a RAK, I guess I will find out what that is soon.  I can't wait for the January contest.

Soccer Ball

The day after Christmas my dad and Kyle took Nala to the elementary school near our house in Wilmington to play fetch in the fenced in field.  The school had left out footballs, basketballs, a volleyball, and soccer balls.  Nala fell in love with the soccer ball.  I got a phone call asking me to bring towels to the field, so I knew Nala must have been dirty and wet (it had rained the day before).  I got there to see a crazy dog, she was running around kicking the balls and sliding in the mud.
Today we went to Dicks Sporting Goods and got Nala a $10 soccer ball.  We then went out to a field near our apartment and played. Here are two picks of us at the field today.

Nala's First Christmas

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.  I went home on Christmas Eve morning and spent a few days with my parents.  It is nice having them only two hours away so I can be there for the holidays!  Plus I don't go back to work until January 2, the University closes from Dec. 21-Jan.2 to help conserve energy.
Nala had a good first Christmas, I think she had more presents than anyone.  She needed help opening her first gift and then she wanted to help everyone else open theirs.  Here are a few pictures from Kyle's Christmas with his family.

December Scrapbook Contest

Here is my layout for the SugarDumplin December quote contest.  The title is More Than A Princess.  It reads, Are you a princess?  I said & she said I'm much more than a princess, but you don't have a name for it yet here on earth.
If you like this go to storypeople.com and check out more work by Brian Andreas.

Nala's Winter Nose

Nala's nose is turning pink. So Kyle and I did a little reasearch and found out that she has winter nose! I took the first picture today and the picture on the bottom in October. You can really tell a difference in color.

Did you know.....
"The intensity of black pigment on yellow Labs is controlled by a separate gene independent of the fur coloring. Yellow Labs usually have black noses, which may gradually turn pink with age called "snow nose" or "winter nose". This is due to a reduction in the enzyme tyrosinase which indirectly controls the production of melanin, a dark coloring. Tyrosinase is temperature dependent—hence light coloration can be seasonal, due to cold weather—and is less produced with increasing age (two years old onwards). As a result, the nose color of most yellow Labs becomes a somewhat pink shade as they grow older."

Nala's First Christmas

On Sunday Kyle took Nala over to his parents house and took this picture in front of the Barnhart Christmas tree. Nala looks miserable, like she is being forced to sit and pose. I think it is because I wasn't there taking the picture :)

Hopefully this week we take our Christmas card picture so I can post that and get the cards mailed off.

Nala is now a 9 months old, 62 pound lap dog!

Scrapbook Submission

In October SugarDumplin.com had a scrapbook page contest. The theme was "think pink", so I decided to do a page on my sister's dog Winnie. Winnie is an old girl now and has cancer. So I thought it would be appropriate to do a page for Winnie in pink. Winnie is my sisters best friend, her "angel sent from heaven." I hope Winnie continues to have a fun and healthy life.

NC State Football

We didn't have the best football season, but we had fun. My parents came up for the Wofford game and we won 38-17. We had a great time making hamburgers and playing corn hole!

Nala the Spider

My mom and I bought Nala's Halloween costume at Old Navy. We had to bribe her with treats to get her to sit still and when she was done she started chewing on the pumpkin stem. I used this picture for her card.
