Pictures from our Bermuda Hike

Gibbs Hill Lighthouse

Me at the Gibbs Hill Lighthouse.  It was overcast.

One of the many roosters we saw and heard on the hike

A dead frog that we saw on the road.  It was huge, but hard to tell from the picture.

Kyle on our long hike

On Thursday morning we decided to take a taxi to Gibbs Hill Lighthouse.  We got there at 9:15am to find out that the people were late getting there and it was not open yet.  We waited for about twenty minutes and decided to just walk back to the hotel and stop at the Warrick pond on the way.  It did not look that far on the map.  We walked for about five miles until we found the Warrick Pond, which was not exciting at all.  We then decided that we really didn't know where we were.  So we found a taxi to take us back. On the walk we saw and learned a few interesting things.  Most importantly that the trail was often on the side of the road, which is very dangerous.

Gary and Jen's Wedding

Here are a few pictures from the wedding.  Notice the camera man and minister are in Bermuda shorts.

Bermuda

I finally have a free moment to post some pictures of the trip.  We took 500 pictures so don't worry there will be more to come.  Bermuda was great.  We got there on Wednesday and it was overcast and extremely windy, so windy that Gary and his family could not land in Bermuda so they were delayed and did not arrive until Thursday.  Kyle and I walked the beach and then went in to Hamilton for dinner.  On Thursday is was overcast again so we decided to go sight seeing.  We went to the Gibbs Hill Lighthouse and ended up hiking for about five miles (more about that next post).  On Thursday night we had the rehearsal dinner at the Waterloo in Hamilton.  By the way I ate seafood for every meal except one.  On Friday the weather was perfect so we went to the beach for a few hours and then had the wedding.  I'll post wedding pictures later as well.  On Saturday we did some more sightseeing and left on Sunday morning.

What we learned about Bermuda....it is expensive!  Gas there is $8 a gallon, wow.  We also found a store similar to BJ's and a carton of gatorade here is about $15 and there it is $45.  I can't imagine paying that much.

The trip was extremely relaxing and a great time.

Pool Training

We are now in the 7th week of our third set of training classes with three other dogs. Nala loves the class, so we keep signing her up. Last week the other owners were saying how their dogs didn't really like the water and of course we told them that we had created a monster and we couldn't keep Nala out of the water. Our trainer, Jackie, decided it would be beneficial to take a week off from training and have fun. So she brought in two baby pools for the dogs, in hopes that Nala would get the others in the water.

We walked in to class and the pools were already set up. Jackie told us to let Nala off the leash. We warned her that if we let her off the leash she would jump in the pool, but she told us Nala probably wouldn't because they were an unfamiliar setting in class. Well of course we were right. Nala ran and immediately jumped in one pool and did circles and then jumped in the other and did the same. The other dogs just looked at her like she was crazy.

Here are some pictures of last nights class. The first picture is of Nala standing in the pool because she couldn't figure out how to lay down, the pool was too small for her. The second picture is of Maddie, another yellow lab in the class. We had to bribe Maddie with treats to get her in, but finally she gave in. The third picture is of Elsie, a mutt, who hates water. We had to hold her in the pool and she hated every minute of it. The forth picture is of Maddie and Nala playing tug of war. They look so much alike, but Nala is the one on the right with the wet face. She likes to dive under water for treats, so she is typically wet all over. The final picture is of all three dogs in the pool. I couldn't resist I had to get them in there together.

After class it took us about thirty minutes to clean up and squeegee the floor. We will miss class next Thursday because we'll be in Bermuda, but Jackie has extended the class one week for us.

Digital Scrapbooking

I've been reading about digital scrapbooking and decided it looked like fun and I needed to give it a try. I found this site funky playground designs and started learning more about the designs and how to purchase the files. So I spent $10 and bought a few things to try. This is my first digital scrapbook design. It is fun and you don't have to mess with scissors or glue!

Happy National Scrapbook Day

Today is national scrapbooking day and in tribute to the day I decided to work on another Maui page.  Here is a picture of a maui sunset.  Enjoy the beautiful day.
